A turn for the better!™

HL Games USA Limited

Press Release 15th February, 2005

New for 2005

HL Games USA Limited, the makers of GO mental®, announces the launch of another new board game:  Who Ate All the Pies?!™.

Described as “the great game of greed and speed” and as “the greediest, speediest, meaniest board game ever”, Who Ate All the Pies?!™ is a game of tricky moves, dirty tricks, and loads of laughter for families and players of all ages.

The setting of the game is a sports stadium surrounded by concession stands selling Pies.  Your playing piece is one of 8 comically greedy cartoon characters with a single-minded desire for Pies.  With the clock ticking, the object of the game is to move your character out of the stadium, rush from Pie-stand to Pie-stand collecting as many Pies as possible and return with them to your seat before the time runs out.  But, along the way, there are a myriad of dirty tricks and hazards.  Elbow your opponents as you pass and make them drop their Pies!  Trip them up and make them miss a turn!  Make them slip on Banana Peels and make them drop a Pie AND miss a turn!!  Lock them out of turnstiles!  Lock them out of bathrooms!  And, of course, your opponents are going to try to do the same to you.  Plus, you’ve got to be careful of those turnstiles – you and your Pies might not fit through them!  And, all the time, you’ve got to watch out for those Pies – some of them are Dodgy Pies!  They might not like you as much as you like them!!

As with their other products, HL Games believes that Who Ate All the Pies?!™ addresses a specific need in board games.  “Sometimes when you play a board game, especially for the first time, you wonder to yourself ‘how long is this game going to last?  Do I have time to play it?!’” says Graeme Thomson of HL Games USA Limited.  “With Who Ate All the Pies?!™ that problem’s solved.  You set the timer.  You decide how many rounds you’re going to play.  The time-limit element is crucial – it focuses the fun, feeds the excitement, and turns an already funny race into an uproarious scramble at the end.”

“With our first game, GO mental®”, Thomson continues, “we set out to fix a problem inherent in trivia-based games – when it’s not your turn, you sit around staring into space.  GO mental® addressed this by involving all the players all the time.  With Who Ate All the Pies?!™ we’re giving people control of something precious – their time.  Plus, we’re giving them laughter.  Who Ate All the Pies?!™ is a hilarious game.  Of course it’s about strategy, but it’s also about laughs.  How many board games give you the opportunity to be greedy, speedy and mean?  It’s the survival of the fattest.”

HL Games also produces GO mental®, the multi-award winning game whose credits include the Chicago Tribune’s Top 10 Games 2004, Creative Child magazine’s Preferred Choice 2004, The National Parenting Center’s Seal of Approval 2004, and Games magazine’s Games 100 2005.

HL Games is also launching this year two new versions of GO mental®: GO mental - FUNDAmental™: the Kids' Variation and GO mental - SACRAmental™: the Religious Variation.

The full HL Games range for 2005 will be unveiled at the American International Toy Fair, Javits Center, Booth # 6141 and at GTS in Las Vegas, Booth #626.

Press Release -  For Immediate Release

New for 2005

GO mental®, the multi-award winning board game, has added 2 exciting new variations.

GO mental - FUNDAmental: the Kids' Variation

GO mental – SACRAmental: the Religious Variation™

GO mental – FUNDAmental.  The classic GO mental has already been heralded as a party game, an educational game, and as a strategy game way beyond simple trivia.  Now, with GO mental – FUNDAmental, the entire family can GO mental at the same time!  Expanding the age range so that players as young as 8 years old can join in, GO mental – FUNDAmental is more than simply a children’s version of the classic game.  It can be played either as a stand-alone game or else in conjunction with the classic game.  Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, no one’s left out.  Everyone’s included.  And, as always, all the players are involved all the time!

GO mental – SACRAmental takes the fun and education a step further – into the world of religion.  Religious matters have seldom been more at the forefront of American and world concerns.  GO mental – SACRAmental brings together faith, facts and fun so that everyone can GO mental together.  More than just a Bible version of the classic game, GO mental – SACRAmental is complete with extensive chapter and verse references, historical, geographical and scriptural information on a range of world religions.  More than ever, it doesn’t just give you the answer, it tells you why it’s the answer.  Whether you believe that you know or know that you believe, GO mental – SACRAmental is a game of involvement, enjoyment and learning.

Just like the classic GO mental, GO mental – FUNDAmental and GO mental – SACRAmental aren’t simply about knowledge.  They’re about strategy.  They’re not about what you know – they’re about using what you know and even what you don’t know!    Plus, they’re more than just games.  They’re eccentric encyclopedias of information.
